Search engine marketing is simply the process of getting your blog and its content a sufficiently high ranking in several search engines for your target keywords. In turn this will enable your content to generate more visitors to your site from Search Engine Results Pages (SERPs). Attention grabbing content titles and sites will help users to feel compelled to click on your link within the search engine results pages.
Additionally, search engine marketing needs a website that is optimised for search engines. Normally, this is a website that can display a configuration setting that makes it look interesting to search engine spiders. In turn, the spiders will visit the site and look at your content. After doing this, the spiders then pick up significant keywords, which determine the characteristic of your page. Lastly, the content returns to the search engines for the purpose of being indexed.
Enhancing Search Engine Marketing
Blogs have outpaced several media outlets online due to their capability to deliver and publish fresh information to the public faster.

Due to Yahoo Answers having a user base of around 90 million, when used properly this site can generate tons of visitors to your blog within hours. As with article marketing, your one time effort can produce traffic to your blog for months to come.
First you need to sign up by creating an account at http://answers.yahoo.com. This is a similar sign up to most membership sites, which allows you to complete your profile after you have completed the sign up process. If you have a Yahoo Account then you can just sign in immediately.
Once you are signed in, go to the Yahoo Answers home page and near the top of the page you should see 3 choices;
- Ask – Fairly self-explanatory. This is where you can publish your own question.
- Answer – This is where you can share your knowledge to help others
- Discover – This is where you can look for the best answers to resolved questions.

The purpose of article marketing is to establish credibility and drive traffic back to your blog. If your article contains good value then it’s fairly likely that the reader will want to visit your website to find more valuable information.
What is Article Marketing?
Article marketing in a nutshell is providing readers with valuable information for free.
It allows you to get promote yourself and your company by producing articles that can be distributed all over the Internet. You’re not limited to just the article directories, you’re making your content freely available for reproduction on other websites.
Writing articles that target a specific niche can help set you up as an expert or authority on the topic. This should lead to readers wanting to learn more from you and result in traffic to your website.
Choosing Your Articles Title
Your articles title should be keyword rich as well as clearly stating what the article is about. For example, if your article was about generating traffic to a website then a good title would be “Traffic Generation – 7 Methods To Increase Web Traffic”.

Forums are a great way to drive targeted visitors to your website. The best ways to get quality traffic from forums is to find a forum that is highly targeted to your websites niche, become involved in the community, and create an intriguing signature.
Your signature should contain a link to your website. Use it to offer something of great value with a good call to action so that it’ll tempt people to click it.
Although having to leave multiple forum posts may seem a little long winded, you have to remember that forums are one of the best places to find a lot of people that are interested in your niche all in one place. Therefore, if you supply these people with valuable information, you have a ton of extremely targeted prospects.
Forums are also an excellent way to meet other marketers. This could lead to future joint ventures and ad swaps which will result in even more targeted traffic!
Here’s some excellent forum marketing tips;
- Read the forum rules carefully. All forums have their own specific policies and regulations. Certain things like posting an affiliate link in your signature can cause you to be banned from some forums.
- Don’t post anything offensive. Not only could this lead to you getting yourself banned but it could also give you a bad repuation and lose you potential customers. If you offend someone unintentionally, make sure you apologise as soon as you realise.
- I’ve already mentioned this above but it’s extremely important so I’m going to mention it again. Make sure that you include an attractive signature file to entice as many potential visitors as possible.
- Take a bit of time to read some posts on the forum before you begin to contribute. This way you can adjust to the forums atmosphere and learn the way that they write. Then once you do post, you’ll blend in perfectly and they’ll feel that you’re part of the group straight away.
- Earn the respect and admiration of other forum members by giving sound advice. Even if you’re not 100% certain of the answer yourself, it’s likely that you could find the answer for them on the internet.
- Do not sell or promote anything. If you provide enough helpful information in your posts, then your signature file will do this for you. Remember, people don’t like to be sold to but they do like to buy. If you consistently provide valuable information, people will click your signature link to see if you have any information products for sale.

The first traffic generating technique that I’m going to tell you about it blog commenting. Commenting on other blogs can be a very powerful technique for building traffic to your website, especially if it is done properly.
Unfortunately, most underestimate the value of blog commenting. Here are just a few of the benefits that can arise from commenting on blogs;
- Backlinks
- Traffic to your website
- Relationships with blog owners
- Guest posting opportunities
- Interviews
- Add Swaps
- Joint Ventures
Of course, to get the most exposure from your comments, you can’t just go and comment on any blog and expect that to result in loads of traffic to your website. There are some things to keep in mind to optimise how much traffic you can get from a blog comment.
Optimal Exposure
To drive the most amount of traffic to your blog, you need to have your comment seen by as many people as possible. To do this, you must comment on high profile blogs that have a lot of readers, RSS subscribers and commenters.

I mentioned in an earlier blog post that I’d be sharing information here on this blog about Traffic Generation. Well, I have just completed a module all about the importance of Social Media with my mentor Alex Jeffreys.
Over the next few weeks, I’ll be updating this blog with posts containing everything I’ve been taught plus more with regards to generating traffic to your website.
I’ve created a category called ‘Traffic Generation‘ so that you will be able to find all the information easily and refer back to it at a later date. After all, you won’t be able to implement every method at once.
I’ll get my first traffic generation post up for you shortly but until then, keep filling your blog with useful information or updating it with your story so that others can relate to you.
Remember, I’m here to help you so if you have any questions, please post a comment below.
Cheers
Pete

It’s all very well having a good content on your blog and great plugins doing work for you but if this is the place where people are going to come to read about you, then you certainly don’t want it looking unprofessional or amateurish.
To fix this you need to change your blogs theme. At this point most people will take the simple route and go to search among the many free WordPress themes that are available. For the majority of people just getting started, this is probably the best thing to do, especially if you’re working on a budget.
However, if you’re anything like me, you’ll be quite picky and want your blog to look a certain way with a certain colour scheme etc. In this case, you have a few options;
- You understand HTML, PHP and CSS and therefore will be able to modify a theme to get it looking exactly the way you want it.
- You’re willing to hire someone to design your blog theme for you.
- You make a one time payment and purchase the Thesis Theme. With this theme, you can get your blog laid out exactly how you want it without having to know any coding at all. You select the relevant options and this theme automatically does all the coding for you. Its design also has built in optimised SEO, so that’s one less thing for you to worry about.

Hey guys,
Just a quick update to let you know how things are going with my mentoring program so far.
Other than learning how to plan out my work, which leads to getting a lot more done each day, believe me, the main thing I’ve had to do so far is to get this blog setup. If you read my other posts you will see that I’ve described exactly how you can do this for yourself in the Getting Started section.
My mentor is very big on the importance of list building. In fact he actually paid Mike Filsaime to teach him the best ways to do this. You may have heard the expression “the money is in the list”. This couldn’t be more true.
You can get a Free Report about list building written by my mentor here.
The next stage of my mentoring will be all about traffic generation. I can’t wait to learn more about this because without traffic, you have no customers and if you have no customers, there’s no money to be made.

I recently taught you how to get started online by installing WordPress to get your blog underway. I hope you took action and now have your own blog with some content on there.
The next action to take with your blog is to get some plugins installed and activated. Plugins allow you to do almost anything with your WordPress blog.
Below I will explain how to install and activate Plugins on your blog and then I will list a load of plugins that I believe you may find useful with your blog. I’ll provide a brief description and also link to each for your convenience.
How To Install WordPress Plugins
First of all you will need to login to your blog at http://www.yourdomain.com/wp-admin/. Enter your username and password to get to your WordPress dashboard and then click on the Plugins link in the menu down the left hand side.
This will display a few options underneath the Plugins option. Click on Add New.
You will now see a new page with a search option. Simply search for the name of the plugin that you want and then click on the install option that displays to the right of the plugin description.

Affiliate Links
Before I get into the details on how I believe you should begin your Internet Marketing career, I want to let you know that this post contains affiliate links.
For those of you unsure of what an affiliate link is, it’s a link to a product/service that credits the link owner (in this case, me) if the referred customer (person that clicks the link) makes a purchase when visiting the site. It’s basically a thank you/incentive for promoting their product.
The price of the product/service does not differ from what you would see if you went directly to the offer.
I only promote products that I do/would happily use myself.
If you decide to use one of the products/services that I recommend but you would prefer that I don’t receive the credit, just go directly to the company.
I just wanted to let you know, as I like to be honest with my readers. For those of you that do make a purchase through my link, Thank You!
Why You Should Use WordPress
There are many reasons why I recommend that you use WordPress;
