Due to Yahoo Answers having a user base of around 90 million, when used properly this site can generate tons of visitors to your blog within hours. As with article marketing, your one time effort can produce traffic to your blog for months to come.

First you need to sign up by creating an account at http://answers.yahoo.com. This is a similar sign up to most membership sites, which allows you to complete your profile after you have completed the sign up process. If you have a Yahoo Account then you can just sign in immediately.

Once you are signed in, go to the Yahoo Answers home page and near the top of the page you should see 3 choices;

  • Ask – Fairly self-explanatory. This is where you can publish your own question.
  • Answer – This is where you can share your knowledge to help others
  • Discover – This is where you can look for the best answers to resolved questions.

Click on the “Browse Open Questions” button underneath Answers. You can also get to this page by selecting the “Browse Categories” tab.

Underneath the title “All Categories”, choose the category that is related to your niche.

Now, simply search among the open questions and answer as many of them as you can, the more detail, the better.

You can include a link to your website as the “source” of the answer.

You should focus your answer on quality, as it is more likely to be chosen as the best answer that way. The best answers get the most attention and the more attention you get, the more visitors you’ll get to your blog.

Yahoo Answers has questions that are placed in 3 categories:

  1. Open: These are recently posted questions that are yet to be answered. Some may have already received an answer but while they remain open, you have the chance to provide better quality answers than those that have already been contributed.

    If you use the search function to find questions to answer based on a specific keyword, you will see that there is an option to add this specific search term to your RSS reader. Doing so will enable you to receive updates when new questions are posted in your niche increasing your chances of being in the number 1 answer spot.

  2. In Voting: If a question received multiple answers and the author of the question cannot decide which of the answers is the best, they may decide to ask the community to vote for the best answer.
  3. Resolved: The best answer has been selected.

At Yahoo Answers, the questions are open for only 4 days. The poster has the option to increase this period for a few days or close it before expiry.
